Endorsement

Published by admin at 9:40 am under The Politics

After the withdraw of John Edwards from the race to be the Democratic nominee for President, I now feel free to fully endorse the candidate that my gut was telling me I’d vote for once I got into the booth, anyway.

Barack Obama.

People tout Hillary’s experience, her connections, her knowledge of the White House — but at this point, none of that is what concerns me. CHANGE is what concerns me. HOPE is what concerns me. Movement in Iraq, on the environment, on health care, with the economy, and with improved international relations — those are the issues that matter to me, and I’m tired of politics-as-usual not getting anything done. I’m tired of the same-old. Hillary is an old-guard insider, she’s not the coalition builder she claims to be, and I don’t feel confident her presence in the White House will shake things up enough for my taste. Not to mention, I’m not sure she’s electable, because nothing draws out a lazy Republican voter faster than four more years with a Clinton.

Some argue Obama is too young. I find that to be all the more reason to give him my vote, and point to JFK. I’d like to hear what you think. Whatever side of the aisle you stand on, and whomever you endorse, please go out and vote.

Check back soon to see my preemptive strike on what is sure to be the Obama version of the Republican “Swift Boat” campaign against Kerry.

I agree with you 100%, Brad. This has been heavy on my mind (and blog), too. Hope you, Tina, and Ms. Sophie are doing well. :-)

I’m old so I’m not supposed to agree, but I do! I thought I was a Republican, but I find I am truly an Independent! Not sure about Rocko!

  3. Chandraon 01 Feb 2008 at 7:05 am

Thanks, Brad! I registered as an Independent voter when I first voted because I didn’t want to be pigeonholed into any particular “camp”. After years of this, I am a Democrat and look forward to change. I’ve took an interesting “quiz” to determine which candidate I favored with and it actually came up with Hilary – however, I must say you have some great points about change – which is what I think is desperately needed. Hmmm… Thanks for kicking the brain back into gear…
(PS – Love, hugs and kisses to the beautiful women in the house!)

Well I thought Obama was the person for the job, then after last night’s debate, it seemed that Hillary had much more to offer the country. That’s not saying she is the one, I am still examining everyone, but I did like her philosophy….never really thought I would be saying that. She is a smart woman and appears to be truly looking out for the best of the American people. Give Tina and Sophie an Aunt Sherry hug for me!
    Love ya all……

I agree that Hillary performed well last night. I think we could do far worse. She’ll get my vote if she beats Obama, but I’m tired of Clintons and Bushes. Give me a fresh face, fresh ideas, and a fresh start. I’m just glad so many people are really paying attention this year. The primaries have seen record numbers of voters for both parties.

John McCain all the way…. Let’s finish what we started in Iraq. We need a leader with experience.

  7. Bradon 02 Feb 2008 at 9:39 am

Tone is always a problem in email and on the internet, so know I say this with no ill will, but Shelley, what do you, and me, and Nolan, and the men and women over there gain by finishing what we started? It’s time for Iraq to run Iraq. There were no terrorists in Iraq until we arrived. There were no WMDs in the first place. Afghanistan is where the where the war should have been finished. That’s where the enemy was, and still remains. McCain, while more tolerable than Bush and Romney, is still more of the same.

While I have always considereded Democrat for the most part, I believe in taking a look at all viable candidates, regardless of party affiliation.
I do believe as Obama said, “we are one United States of America”. We all need to learn to work together for the good of the people..both parties. That may be an idealistice perception, but it is one, I firmly believe in. Are we Democrat, Republican, Independent or American?
Americans we are given the choice of party affilation (thanks for that freedom), but in the end we are one people United for the good of the country….ok, I’ll step off my soap box now.

Obama??? Why in the world would we want a radical muslim running this country? He’ll just destry our great nation from the inside out!!! Just kidding… I’m not real big on Obama but he’s certainly better than Hillbilly Clinton. The next few months will be interesting, that’s for sure.

  10. Bradon 04 Feb 2008 at 2:07 pm

Scott McCain Hait chiming in, ladies and gents!

  11. The Senioron 05 Feb 2008 at 9:54 am

I’m a Mike Huckabee fan but we all know that’s not happening.

  12. Bradon 05 Feb 2008 at 10:01 am

HUCKABEE!? I have no problem with politicians being religious people, or at least telling voters that they are, but he said he wants to “take this country back for Christ.” And as appealing as that may sound to many Christians, I believe Church and State were separated by the very wise men who crafted our constitution for very good reasons.

  13. Bradon 05 Feb 2008 at 10:03 am

We crack on Iran for being a totalitarian theocracy. If we vote politicians into office with religious agendas, how are we different? Sure, we may not sponsor terrorism, but we wouldn’t be far from crusading again would we?

  14. chadon 05 Feb 2008 at 11:35 am

The last democrat in office had the economy running awesome, however, he let terrorism spread until it finally bit us in the ass. I”ll take a slow economy over letting terrorist rule us by fear, and then eventual attack. You can save money to offset slow times, what exactly can you do to offset terrorism. I’ll tell yah, blow them up till they get the point. Would you want cops to stop patrolling your neighborhood because arresting burglars cost to much money. prolly not. I’ll admit i have no clue what our current mission is over there, and i won’t believe hunting terrorist in Iraq is still on the current agenda. But you cannot vote someone into office that will completely ignore the middle east until two planes crash into towers filled with people. Whats the answer, i have no clue, just ask yourself this question. Could you really stand listening to Hillary Clinton scream at you for 4 years. Seriously, does she have a hearing problem.

  15. Bradon 05 Feb 2008 at 1:19 pm

If we weren’t occupying “Holy Land” in Saudi and in Iraq, and if we were self-sufficient in terms of powering our country and could eliminate our reliance on middle-eastern oil, then we wouldn’t have a problem with terrorism in the first place. I say again, the near trillion dollars spent in Iraq would have been better spent at home developing alternative fuels. THAT would have lowered the terrorist threat immensely. And it’s a Republican fabricated myth that Democrats are soft on terror. Obama opposing the war in Iraq does not believe he is soft on terror. It means he, like me, I must say, knew where the real fight was — Afghanistan — and that going into Iraq was a losing proposition with no long-term benefit. Has nothing to do with Terror. When Hussein went down, and sectarian violence began because we weren’t prepared for it, Bush needed a reason to convince us we needed to stay. Terror became that reason. Terror that wasn’t there until we were, and is only exacerbated every second we remain. This won’t sound very liberal of me, but I say we get the hell out of there and let them sort it out themselves.

I shook John McCain’s hand a few months ago, but what I’m really interested in knowing right now is what kind of fish’n rod and reel Senior endorses. I’m in the market, and I need a combo that can handle anything from crappy and striper to blue gill.

  17. chadon 05 Feb 2008 at 10:08 pm

Just like a Democrat to turn a Republican’s words around. Terror still exhists in Iraq. You say let the Iraqi’s rule the Iraqi’s fine, but which Iraqis. We can’t just pull out and hope the best man gets the job when in reality the guy with the most guns and most people will get it. Back to square one. I never said anything about Obama being soft on terror. I am merely cautioning those voting to make sure that we don’t have another Bill Clinton situation. You can’t just sit back and wait to see what happens over there. Our interests are over there. Not necessarily oil, but guys building nuclear weapons. Wrong guy rules Iraq, pals up with Iran, who pal up with Korea, who make nice with the Russians. Then we have the British and ???? to help us in WWIII. Man would Israel be in for a bad few years. If it lasted that long. We have to assert our will on them or they will assert theirs on us, again. This time it might be a few million dead. After all, i like Democracy alot more than Dictatorships. Watch Red Dawn people, it doesn’t sound so crazy now.

  18. AUNT SHERRYon 06 Feb 2008 at 8:37 am

    OK BOYS, CHILL OUT……
    YOUR AUNTIE HAS SPOKEN!
ACTUALLY THIS IS KIND OF FUN READING EVERYONE’S POLITICAL OPINONS!

  19. The Senioron 06 Feb 2008 at 10:55 am

What Chad says! Keep up the pressure… In short, keep a very close eye on Iran, China and Russia. And above all, keep your finger on the pulse of Isreal.

Hear ye, hear ye!!! I have to endorse Shimano reels, Brian. Spend more on a reel and buy an average rod to put it on. A 6’6″ medium heavy rod will do the trick for most larger species. Buy a little light action combo set up for the crappy and bluegills. These 2 combos will last a long time if well cared for… Good luck!
