It’s been a while since I reported on my life in “the industry.”
A script I wrote at USC and have revised several times over the years for contests and fellowships, eventually found its way to a fellow Kentuckian, Stu Pollard, who has signed-on to direct the script and partner with me as a producer. It’s small little drama called, HARMONY, and it is set in Florida — I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. We’re hoping to begin fund-raising soon, and will be trying to raise between two and five million dollars. If you know anyone interested in investing in a great little movie and solid team of filmmakers, please give me a shout.
The biggest news comes in the form of a new gig at Paramount. I’ve been hired off a pitch to write a sequel to the 2000 Tom Green comedy, ROAD TRIP, with Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures producing. I’ll be working with a great team at the studio and the production company, it’s Paramount’s first in house straight-to-DVD venture (there is hope for theatrical), and I’m very excited to land the job.
Other big news involves friend of the Dime, JT Griffith, being hired by Nike to head-up a new music division in Portland. I love that town and hope to venture North more often now, and visit Nike’s awesome campus. Congrats JT!
And let me send out a plea to all Dime readers to please watch FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and spread the word to your friends and families. It is an amazing show, our friend, Aaron, is on staff, and it is jeopardy of being closed down all together.
