Why isn’t there a college class on being an adult?

Published by Tina at 3:01 pm under The Miscellany

I continue to encounter events, situations and issues that make me wonder why colleges don’t offer us an opportunity to learn about life lessons like: Which life insurance coverage is best for us? How much should we invest vs. keep in our savings account? When do you hire a contractor or just attempt to fix the leaky shower yourself? Oh, and which credit card is going to give me the best rewards? These and a few other questions are ones Brad and I have been dealing with over the past year or so, and while we either research the answers on the web or from a book, or get advice from family and friends, it sure would be nice if these types of topics were covered in a structured academic setting that allowed you to consider the various options without fearing that your ceiling will cave on you if you don’t fix that water leak immediately.

i admit, i was slightly puzzled as to why brad was referring to himself in the 3rd person these days. i’m not quite adjusted to the two-blogger format yet.

pop quiz: you’ve just been sweet-talked into changing your long distance plan. what do you do?

ah yes, that’s a good one too — we actually use our cell phones for long-distance calls as it seems to be the best offer out there. i’ve even heard of people totally dropping their land lines but that’s up to you.
